Grok Imagine in Reelora: video and photo from xAI in one studio

Grok is a video and image generator from xAI, known to many as Grok Imagine. In Reelora you have access to Grok Video, the lighter Grok Lower, and Grok Image. We explain what each does and where Grok beats other models.

What is Grok Imagine and what's available in Reelora

xAI is the company behind the Grok assistant. Besides text, Grok can generate video and images — that's what users search for as Grok Imagine. In Reelora, they run in your browser: no separate Grok subscription or xAI account needed.

Reelora's catalog from xAI includes three models. Grok Video — the main model for video. Grok Lower — a lighter version of the same model for drafts and large batches. Grok Image — an image generator that returns up to 8 images per query.

You pick them the same way as other models: in the Studio, tap the xAI provider, then the model and settings. You see the price before generation. How clips combine into a finished video with voiceover, subtitles and editing — shown in the Reelora video generator overview.

What Grok Video can do

Three durations

Clips of 6, 10 or 15 seconds. Pick 6 for a short scene, 10 or 15 for a fuller action.

Resolution from 480p to 1080p

480p to quickly test an idea, 720p or 1080p for the final version.

Five frame formats

16:9, 9:16, 1:1, and also 2:3 and 3:2 — handy when your frame goes to a post, not just YouTube.

Sound that can be turned off

Grok generates video with native sound, but you can turn it off if voiceover or music goes over it.

Up to 5 image references

Give the model a character look, location or product — and the frame will stay closer to your vision.

Grok — one of two models for one-button video assembly

Reelora has a mode where you set a topic, length, format and language, and AI builds your video skeleton and generates all scenes on its own. Two model families are available for video in this mode: Veo 3.1 and Grok.

This is a key difference from Kling and Seedance: they're billed per second, so a video with dozens of scenes would get expensive, and they only work in the Studio. Grok is billed per clip, so you can build a whole video with it automatically. More on this mode — on the long video and shorts page.

Where Veo gives an 8-second clip, Grok offers a choice: 6, 10 or 15 seconds. For slow, atmospheric scenes, a longer clip sometimes works better than piecing together several short ones.

Grok Image: when you need many options at once

Grok Image returns up to 8 images per query. Handy in the search phase: covers, character looks, location ideas — generate a batch, pick the best and move on.

Speed mode works for quick sketches, Quality mode for when the image goes into the final result: as a cover, video frame or video reference. You can add up to 4 image references to your query.

A Grok Image can be animated right away with any video model in Reelora. How to pick an image that animates well — in the guide how to make video from a photo. Ready-made prompts for images — in the photo prompt collection.

Grok's limits — let's be honest

Grok has the same weak spots as all generative video: text in the frame, hands in motion, complex physics. Build your script so these moments aren't center-stage, and add captions and titles in the editor.

Sometimes a model rejects a request or returns a bad frame. In Reelora this doesn't break the whole video: regenerate the problem scene, try another model, or swap in your own footage — the rest stays in place.
